Mr. Stephen H. Weinstein

Mr. Weinstein currently serves as Chair of the Bermuda Business Development Agency, Bermuda’s not-for-profit business development authority charged to promote and protect sustainable and equitable economic growth and prosperity in Bermuda.  In 2020, Mr. Weinstein was also appointed to the Bermuda Economic Advisory Committee, a body appointed by the Premier and Minister of Finance to assist with Bermuda’s economic recovery from the impacts of the pandemic.

Mr. Weinstein serves as an advisor to RenaissanceRe Holdings Ltd., from which he retired in 2020 after two decades of services as chief legal officer, with responsibility for legal, regulatory, government affairs and compliance matters on a global basis. Mr. Weinstein also served as the Chair of the RenaissanceRe Risk Sciences Foundation, RenaissanceRe's charitable vehicle for scientific research and engagement in respect of natural catastrophes and risk mitigation. The Foundation is committed to researching and developing risk mitigation techniques and fostering awareness of the benefits of effective risk mitigation, including the award-winning Risk Mitigation Leadership Forum series of conferences and outreach events. He was a member of RenaissanceRe’s Executive Committee since March 2006. Mr. Weinstein, a frequent speaker on legal, regulatory and mitigation-related matters, serves on several trade, industry and not-for-profit boards of directors, including the R Street Institute, a leading non partisan research and policy organization. Mr. Weinstein joined RenaissanceRe as General Counsel and Secretary in 2002 from Willkie Farr & Gallagher LLP, a leading international law firm.

Mr. Weinstein is a graduate of Columbia College and Harvard Law School.
