RISE is an independent non-profit organization, not affiliated with iRobot, that is focused on developing robots to solve environmental problems. The non-profit's first initiative is to develop an undersea robot to slow the destruction caused by lionfish, an invasive species drastically reducing biodiversity and coral reef health in all warm waters of the western Atlantic.

Chris Flook, BIOS small boats & dock supervisor, and Gretchen Goodbody-Gringley, BIOS coral scientist, both sit on the RISE Advisory Board. RISE has partnered with Ocean Academy to display their ROV at the upcoming MARINE ROV Challenge April 22nd at the National Sports Center.

Recently, the film "Lionfish: From Predator to Plate" featured the RISE robots in Bermuda. The film, which was written and produced by 11th Hour Racing, made it's debut at the Bermuda International Film Festival and can now be viewed on YouTube.
