Alan McGowan is currently a Lecturer in the Environmental Studies Program at The New School, having chaired the program for three years. Prior to that, he chaired the Science, Technology and Society Program there. He is an Executive Editor of Environment magazine, the former Director of Public Understanding of Science Programs of the American Association for the Advancement of Science, and the former President of the Scientists' Institute for Public Information, as well as of the Gene Media Forum.
