Dennis Hansell, PhD

Dennis is a Professor of Chemical Oceanography with expertise on the carbon cycle at the University of Miami. At the university, he served as founding Chairman of the Department of Ocean Sciences (2014-2018) and as Chairman of the Division of Marine and Atmospheric Chemistry (2002-2009). Other service included Chairman of the United States Carbon Cycle Science Steering Group (2010-2013), with responsibility for providing individual as well as broad scientific and application input to federal agencies as they develop and administer carbon cycle science programs. Dr Hansell worked as a Senior Scientist at BIOS until 2000.
